About

Eftakhar Ahmed Arnob

Sylhet to Auburn, by way of a robotics lab and three ICPC regionals.

I grew up building things that move. A robotic arm, after the budget for a control glove ran out. A car you could drive over the internet from another continent. A pump that watched a water tank so nobody else had to.

I studied Computer Science at North East University Bangladesh in Sylhet, spent three years on the ICPC circuit, and finished my degree writing a neural network that could look at half a drawn shape and finish it.

In 2024 I moved to Auburn, Alabama, to start a PhD, and turned the same question around. Instead of teaching a machine to see what isn't there, I started asking what happens when someone stops a machine from seeing what is.

Chronology

Sylhet to Auburn

In order, oldest first. The electronics and the vision work come first; the security work is what I built out of both of them.

  1. 01Jan 2019 – Jun 2023

B.Sc. (Engg.) in Computer Science and Engineering

North East University Bangladesh · Sylhet

Three ICPC Dhaka regional onsite contests, a university programming championship, and a robotics lab I ended up teaching in.

  2. 022022 – 2023

    Undergraduate researcher

    NEUB · Advisor: Noushad Sojib

I built an encoder–decoder model for 2D partial natural shape recognition that predicts the trajectory a sensor missed.

  3. 032022 – Aug 2024

    Research affiliate, soft robotics

NiFELab, Auburn University · Supervisor: Dr. Jean-François Louf

I built the control electronics for plant-inspired poroelastic soft robots. The work went to four conference talks, and to a tactile-sensing paper now accepted to Soft Robotics.

  4. 042023 – 2024

    Software engineer

    Dorik Inc.

I wrote production web software alongside the research.

  5. 05Aug 2024 – present

PhD in Computer Science and Software Engineering

Cyber-Physical Security Lab, Auburn University · Advisor: Dr. Yazhou Tu

I broke nine cameras with light, built two training-free defences out of optical physics, filed two provisional patents, and ran the disclosure with Google, Amazon and Arlo.

The record

Teaching

Three roles I held at North East University Bangladesh — the hardware, the algorithms, and the coursework in between.

Technical trainer and mentor

North East University Bangladesh

I ran Arduino and ESP8266 workshops in the robotics lab, taking classmates from circuit theory to working hardware.

ACM programming workshop mentor

North East University Bangladesh

I coached junior students in algorithmic problem-solving for national contests.

Teaching assistant

North East University Bangladesh

I assisted on undergraduate CSE coursework.

Skills

Grouped, not ranked. I have no honest score out of ten for any of this, so I don’t print one.
